About us
Your Story Foundation is a charitable foundation designed to improve the quality of life for cancer patients and their families in our local community of Anacortes.
We don't want the college dreams and plans of so many young men and women to get lost in the financial shuffle. It takes a lot of determination and courage to forge ahead when sometimes it would be easier to give up.
Scholarship Application
Information provided will be used by the Your Story Foundation Scholarship committee in consideration for awarding this one-time scholarship.
Amount: Up to $5000 in scholarships available
Eligibility Requirements:
1) You must be a senior in high school who is enrolled in post-secondary education for 2024/2025 academic school year and whose life has been affected by cancer directly or indirectly or who has impacted someone’s life who is fighting cancer.
OR
2) Parent or teacher nominations of a scholarship recipient accepted. Must meet all eligibility requirements.
OR
3) An individual who is enrolled in post-secondary education for 2024/2025 academic school year and whose life has been affected by cancer directly or indirectly or who has impacted someone’s life who is fighting cancer.

Documentation of Enrollment in Post-Secondary Education - Including Name of Institution to which you have applied and been accepted.
In a brief statement, describe your plans for higher education and explain how you will apply this education to your future career and personal ambition goals.
Step 2
Essay Criteria: Essays must be a minimum of 500 words and a maximum of 1500 words. Please discuss how your life and career goals have directly or indirectly been affected by cancer. Or how you have made a difference in someone’s life that is fighting or fought cancer.
If you are a teacher/parent nominating a scholarship recipient, please follow the essay criteria above and discuss how the scholarship recipient is deserving.
Step 3
Scholarship applicants and their parents, if they are minors, must sign a release, that they agree to allow the usage of their name and photo to be published in the news media or on or affiliated with the Your Story Foundation website or social media sites.
Award Process:
1. Final candidates will be selected 2 weeks after application deadline.
2. Scholarship recipient will be honored at Anacortes Awards Night or receive a certificate of award at the annual Your Story Foundation event, The Anacortes Cancer Walk on August 17th, 2024
3. Scholarship funds will be distributed to the student’s post-secondary educations account pending the following:
